Becoming a real estate broker requires a great deal of time, study and effort, but the rewards can be worth it. If you enjoy managing people, have the ability to train and motive others and desire to continue your education from contracts to technology, broker management may be right for you.

To obtain a real estate broker license in Virginia you must at a minimum, earn a high school diploma or its equivalent, take 180 credit-hours of state-approved real estate education from a state-approved real estate school and pass the Virginia state broker licensing exam.

BRAR offers the following 45-hour state-approved Broker Pre-licensing courses.  Completion of all four will satisfy the 180-hour course requirement:


Essentials of Real Estate Finance – Register (45 hours)

Course covers nature and cycle of real estate finance, mortgage markets, sources of funds, instruments of real estate finance, various types of loans and financing programs, closings, defaults, and foreclosures.


Fundamentals of Real Estate Appraisal (45 hours)
Instructor: Bill Roth
Class schedule: begins JANUARY 9, 2016

Course covers the major principles behind the various approaches to valuing real estate. Learn the forces that create and affect the real estate market. Learn the steps in the appraisal process, the various types of capitalization, and mathematical computations/statistics needed for appraising.
